This is the third time we’ve done Arcadia, an art auction conceived and run by artists for the purpose of raising a significant monetary contribution for Friends of the Urban Forest. The inspiration of the event was a discussion about Joseph Beuys‘ 7,000 Oaks project. It’s tough for an individual artist to make a big impact on a city like San Francisco — but if more than 100 artists band together, anything is possible. Friends of the Urban Forest has planted more than 40,000 trees in San Francisco, that’s more than all the trees in Golden Gate Park. And the best part is FUF engages our citizens to take action to give San Francisco all the benefits of a thriving urban forest.
Please take a look at the Arcadia Web site, and if you can, buy a ticket to the event and buy some art once you get there.
